Efficient post-processing in metal 3D printing: the AMF substrate plate clamping system at M&H CNC Technik

The patented AMF substrate plate clamping system makes post-processing in metal 3D printing more efficient.

Together with our partner M&H CNC Technik, based in Ilz, Austria, we are committed to providing efficient solutions for additive manufacturing. Our substrate plate clamping system is used there, ensuring significantly shorter set-up times during the post-processing of metal components.

When combined with AMF zero-point clamping technology, the defined reference points are maintained throughout the entire process chain. Whilst modern 3D printers are producing at ever-faster rates, the subsequent post-processing often remains time-consuming. This is precisely where our modular substrate plate clamping system comes into its own. The individual segments of the clamping plate can be removed together with the printed components and used directly in subsequent processes. There is no need for re-fitting or re-calibration.

At the same time, accessibility is improved during 5-axis machining. Additional clamping tabs, which were previously required for further processing, are also no longer needed. “The segmented AMF substrate clamping plate with defined zero-point interfaces makes our processes completely end-to-end and, above all, even more efficient during the transition from one post-processing stage to the next following 3D metal printing,” explains Patrick Herzig, Managing Director and founder of M&H CNC Technik GmbH.

The application at M&H CNC Technik demonstrates how additive manufacturing and subsequent machining processes can be efficiently integrated. The result is shorter lead times, fewer manual steps and more cost-effective post-processing of metal components.
